There are two Guest Villas on the Mareas compound, each Guest Villa has four bedroom suites; two on the ground floor and two on the upper level. The upper rooms have a balcony overlooking a garden and the ground floor suites open onto a private garden. Each Guest Villa is just steps away from our nature trails that lead you to private waterfalls and the rainforest canopy. Because Mareas is at 1,000 ft. elevation there are year-round ocean breezes that create a cool comfortable climate.

All rooms have air conditioning and ceiling fans. The Guest Villas have a total of four king beds and eight queen beds. Each bedroom suite has a private terrace, balcony, sitting areas and private baths which are tiled and elegantly appointed

  • Pacifica Guest Villa provides commanding ocean views and you may also see whales and dolphins peacefully migrating along the coast.
  • Tucano Guest Villa will immerse you in the unspoiled rain forest, with views of the ocean and jungle along with the melody of tropical birds and monkeys.
Each Guest Villa has four bedrooms suites, two Premium Suites and two Superior Suites.
  • Premium Suites are approximately 1,400 sq. ft. and have a king bed, sitting rooms as well as a private bath with showers that open to the forest.
  • Superior Suites are approximately 700 sq. ft, and have two queen beds and a private bath as well.

There are more species of plants and animals per acre in Costa Rica than anywhere else in the world. Biodiversity is evident everywhere: 10,000 species of plants, 850 species of birds, 800 species of butterflies, 500 species of mammals, reptiles, and amphibians.

You don’t have to travel far within the country to experience a different and unique ecosystem:

    Approximately 30 percent of Costa Rica is protected as national parks, biological and archeological reserves, and wildlife refuges.

    Mareas is located in "Playa Hermosa", on the southern Pacific side of Costa Rica, known as “Costa Ballena”. We are 10 miles south of a small town named Dominical and 3 miles north of Uvita, home of the "Whales Tail" reef.

    How to get there:
    • Fly into Costa Rica International Airport in San Jose (SJC), from here you can either rent a car and drive to Mareas (approximately a half day drive) or you can take a regional flight from Sansa Airlines, which is located next to the International terminal.

    • By car, it is a pleasant 4 hour trip through scenic mountains. From San José, take the Pan-American Highway south towards Cartago and then to San Isidro and on to Dominical. Drive south towards Uvita, follow the signs to Mareas.

    • By air it is just a 30 minute flight. Private helicopter or plane rental is available or you can book a Sansa flight to either Palmar Sur or Quepos, once you land at either location the drive to Mareas is about 40 minutes. Your car rental company will meet you with a car at the regional airport of your choice.
